Chicago Bears Briefly Close Halas Hall, Delay Practice Over Latest COVID-19 Case
CHICAGO (CBS) -- For the second time this season, the Chicago Bears temporarily shut down Halas Hall on Thursday after another member of the team tested positive for COVID-19.
The team held all their morning meetings remotely after closing their practice facility, and reopened Halas Hall after getting the all-clear from doctors. They pushed back Thursday's practice from 1:10 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Last month the Bears dealt with a similar situation, sending players and staff home from the practice facility on Nov. 5 after another positive test.
Three practice squad players came down with coronavirus earlier this week, and on Thursday morning the Bears said another individual tested positive, prompting them to close Halas Hall.
"Obviously we're not exempt from this pandemic. We all know that cases are on the rise, and I just want to credit our players and coaches for adapting and staying flexible," head coach Matt Nagy said.
With such a quick resolution to Thursday's virus situation, it appears the latest COVID cases on the team won't affect the Bears' upcoming game against the Houston Texans, scheduled for noon Sunday on CBS 2.
