Chicago Aldermen: Five City Council Races Still Too Close To Call
By John Dodge
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Of the 18 runoff races for City Council, five of them remain too close to call three days after the election.
Four of those race involve incumbents. Depending on the outcome of provisional and absentee ballots, along with a possible recount, all of them could be gone, according to the latest analysis by Aldertrack.
Of that group, Ald. Howard Brookins (21st) holds the biggest margin at 286 votes and appears the most likely to hang on to his seat.
In the 31st Ward, Ald. Ray Suarez trails Milly Santiago by 87 votes.
In the 10th Ward, Ald. John Pope trails challenger Susan Sadlowski-Garza by 43 votes.
In the 43rd Ward, Ald. Michelle Smith leads challenger Caroline Vickrey by 81 votes.
The fifth race does not involve an incumbent, with Toni Foulkes holding a 148 vote edge over Stephanie Coleman in the 16th Ward, according to Aldertrack's analysis.
