'Chemical' In Office Mail Turns Out To Be Talcum Powder
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were worried they had been exposed to a strange chemical in an office building downtown, but it turned out to be talcum powder.
Firefighters responded around 9 a.m. to the City Colleges of Chicago central administration building, 226 W. Jackson Blvd., where they had initially believed unidentified chemicals were found in office materials, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight.
An employee inside the building address found some white power inside an envelope, but authorities found it was only talcum powder, according to Central District police Lt. Richard Guerrero.
Crews initially believed two people were exposed, but as of 10 a.m., Knight said it "turned out to be nothing,'' and no one was transported to a hospital.
