CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chelsea Handler's much-anticipated stand-up comedy special, taped at the Harris Theatre in Chicago, debuts exclusively on Netflix on Friday.
The show, "Uganda Be Kidding Me," was taped on June 20 at the Millennium Park venue. (Watch a preview above, but use some headphones if you are at work--or any place else where people might be offended by naughty words.)
In an interview with Howard Stern on Wednesday, Handler said she chose Chicago because her fans here been so good to her and her career.
It is part of Handler's new deal with Netflix in which she will eventually create a talk show for the leading Internet TV network. Beginning in early 2016, the show will debut for all Netflix subscribers to view on-demand.
Before that, Handler will be taking a year off from the talk show grind.
However, in addition to the stand-up special, the former host of E!'s "Chelsea Lately" will produce a series of comedy-documentaries for Netflix. The goal for Handler is to develop a better understanding about a variety of topics from NASCAR to politics and from Silicon Valley to the NBA draft.
Handler told Stern she went to Netflix because, "I feel like I'm smarter than what I'm doing, and I feel like I'm getting dumber. There's not enough well-roundedness in what I was doing. I like human interest, global issues, and politics. I want to learn a lot."
