Charges May Be Upgraded In DUI Crash
AURORA, Ill. (WBBM) -- An Aurora man already in jail for DUI now faces a more serious charge after his passenger dies 16 months later.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Lisa Fielding reports, around 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2009, David Solis, 28, was driving west in a 1999 Lexus sport-utility vehicle the 1000 block of East New York Street in Aurora, when he rear-ended a box truck that was stopped in traffic.

After the crash, Solis backed the SUV into an adjoining gas station parking lot and fled. His passenger, Elvis Hernandez, 28, was left with severe head injuries, and was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center.
The 34-year-old Chicago man who was driving the box truck hit by Solis was not injured.
Solis returned to the scene 45 minutes later, and was identified as the man who fled.
He is charged with driving under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving without a suspended license, and driving without insurance.
Hernandez died over the weekend.
Aurora police are working with the Kane County State's Attorney to pursue upgraded charges on Solis.
