Charges Formalized For Two Suspects In Lakeview Stabbing
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were charged with stabbing a man during a fight on a Lakeview community street early Saturday.
Demetrious Moore, 26, of the 7500 block of North Seeley Avenue in the Rogers Park neighborhood, was charged with aggravated battery, causing great bodily harm and possession of a controlled substance, according to a statement from police News Affairs.
Israel D. Johnson, 23, of the 7200 block of South Rhodes Avenue on the South Side, was charged with one misdemeanor count of battery, causing bodily harm, the statement said.
Moore is scheduled to appear in bond court Monday.
The 24-year-old victim was walking at 938 W. Belmont Ave. about 3:30 am. when two male suspects approached him from behind and a fight erupted, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
During the brawl, the suspects stabbed the man in the back before fleeing the scene, she said.
The man was taken in good condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to Kubiak.
The victim was treated for minor injuries and has been released, according to a statement from 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney.
Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
