Charch: Week 3 Player Rankings

This week's rankings include a couple of rookies and a runner looking to make good on his new contract:
Quarterbacks
Featured QB: Cam Newton
Ugh, I hate admitting I'm wrong. I thought Cam Newton was going to be a long-term work in progress for a lousy team. Then he blew up in the opener. I thought it was a fluke against a bad team. Then he picked apart the world champs last week. So, apparently, I was wrong. I say apparently, because I'm still not totally convinced. But he's got a strong matchup this week, so he's playable. The Jaguars are good against the run, and lousy against the pass. Mid-tier passes Mark Sanchez and Matt Hasselbeck have posted multiple touchdown passes against them, through two weeks. Even if the Jags hold him to half his production from his earlier games, he'd tally decent fantasy numbers

Running Backs
Featured RB: Chris Johnson
Get on your phone and call up the frustrated owner of Chris Johnson, and buy now! With 12 games remaining against mediocre to atrocious defenses, now is the time to strike. You'll have to suffer through Pittsburgh in week five and a week six bye, but the rest of his schedule is softer than a moist roll of Charmin. The Titans clash this week against a putrid Broncos run defense which allowed a league second-worst 154.6 rushing yards-per-game last year to go along with the league worst 1.6 touchdowns-per-game. Week one they allowed a comparably-skilled Darren McFadden to break the 150-yard mark against them, and Johnson should have no trouble posting about that many combo yards this week.
Wide Receivers
Featured WR: AJ Green
In most cases rookie wide receivers have a slow ramp up period to being productive in the NFL, especially if they have an equally green rookie quarterback throwing them the ball. That hasn't been the case for A.J. Green though as he leads all rookies in receiving yards and has scored a touchdown in both games. His opponent on Sunday, the 49ers, have allowed an average of 291 yards passing per game and the most touchdowns to opposing wide receivers at five. Dalton has targeted Green 18 times so far and he should build on his team leading 11receptions with a very solid week against the Niners.
