Charch: Week 2 Fantasy Football Rankings

By Paul Charchian-

(CBS) Week 2 Position Rankings:

Michael Vick

This week, Michael Vick returns to the scene of the crime. Literally. Vick has been back to Atlanta once before, as a backup in 2009. Things are different now that he's a high-profile starter again, and I'm a little worried that the media will create a distraction for Vick. Still, the fan base in Atlanta was (overly) supportive of him during the criminal phase of his career, so the Georgia Dome welcome won't be hostile. Atlanta's secondary is licking its wounds after a beatdown at the hands of Jay Cutler, who topped 300 yards and threw a couple touchdowns. Last year's book on the Falcons was that good quarterbacks had their way with them. Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Flacco, and Kevin Kolb were among the notables who topped 300 yards and/or three touchdowns against the Falcons. Vick should do no worse than Cutler.

Matt Forte

Matt Forte had another outstanding season opener last week, rushing for 68 yards and catching five balls for 90 yards and a score. Forte's topped 50 receiving yards in each of his last five games, and he's averaged 24 touches for 154 combo yards over that same five-game span. It's never pretty, but he's finding ways to get it done, and this week he'll get a middling Saints run defense that surrendered rushing scores to both James Starks and John Kuhn last week. There's really no reason to expect Forte's encouraging trends to come to an end here.

Plaxico Burress

There are no reports as of yet that Plaxico has stabbed himself with a spear or fallen victim to a self-inflicted crossbow shot to the leg, which really is a win-win for the Jets passing game. Burress saw four catches for 72 yards and a score against the Cowboys on Sunday night, but the impressive thing was that he still looked like he hadn't missed a step after serving a two-year prison term. It's good for fantasy squads that he's a quick starter, for example in the last nine games Burress has played in September he's tallied up 617 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
