UPDATED: Cashner Has MRI, Cubs Will Be 'Cautious'
After leaving his first career start with shoulder tightness, Chicago Cubs' pitcher Andrew Cashner underwent an MRI on Tuesday.
The MRI revealed a strained rotator cuff, and as a result, the Cubs placed Cashner on the disabled list.
Cashner will be joined on the DL by Randy Wells, who's suffering from a strained forearm.
Cashner gave up two hits over 5.1 innings before being removed from the game after walking Willie Bloomquist, Cashner's only walk of the game.
"He just felt a little tightness," Cubs manager Mike Quade said. "We'll be cautious with everybody, especially early in the season. He didn't have any trouble in camp. This caught us off guard completely. He was honest with us, and hopefully we were able to get him out of there before anything bad happened."
The Cubs went on to to win the game despite giving up three runs in the seventh, and another run in the ninth.
