Carmody: Wildcats 'Psyched' For NIT Tournament
The Northwestern Wildcats may have missed out on their first NCAA Tournament bid, but the team was able to secure their third-straight postseason appearance, a school record.
"Yeah I definitely think so," Northwestern head coach Bill Carmody said on the Mully and Hanley Show when asked if the school's NIT bid helps the program. "And plus when you consider we have a home game, which means we were one of the top four seeds. And for me, not to be selfish, I just want to watch this kid Thompson play again, I like watching Mike Thompson play. He's been so good, it's just fun for me."

But Carmody isn't the only person in the program excited that their season will continue a little deeper into March.
"They're playing ball, and it's March and they're playing and they have an opportunity for a championship," Carmody said of his players. "We had a practice [on Monday] and I thought the guys were really psyched. You have a disappointment from not making the NCAA [Tournament], but sports, a lot of it is about that, recovering and getting over that, you know, moving on and adversity and all those things that coaches talk about. And I think our players are getting it and I think we're a good team and we're trying to win"
