Carjacking Suspect Arrested After Crashing Into Building
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man suspected of carjacking an SUV has been arrested and taken to a hospital after crashing the vehicle into a Logan Square building while fleeing from police.
The man stole a black Chevrolet Trailblazer at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on the 2300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, Police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.
Police officers saw the Trailblazer less than a mile away around noon near Diversey and Sacramento avenues, and took the man into custody, but not before he attempted to flee, crashing the SUV into a bus and a building.
The suspect tried to flee the scene after the crash, but was apprehended after officers used a stun gun to subdue him, Sullivan said.
The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for precautionary reasons, Sullivan said. No one on the bus was injured.
No charges had been filed as of about 1:20 p.m.
