Alleged Carjacker Killed In Morton Grove Crash

MORTON GROVE, Ill. (CBS) -- A crash following a carjacking in Morton Grove has left the alleged offender dead and a woman in the car with him injured.
Around 2:10 a.m., a 22-year-old Glenview resident told police he was carjacked near Glenview and Shermer roads in Glenview, and released in Evanston. He was not injured except for a minor cut, according to a release from Glenview police.

Evanston police placed an area-wide radio message, and a Skokie police officer spotted the victim's car, Glenview police.
The carjacker drove on until he finally crashed at the China Chef restaurant, at 5920 Lincoln Ave. just east of Austin Avenue, in Morton Grove.
The carjacker and a woman in the passenger seat were both ejected, officials said.
Morton Grove paramedics took the alleged carjacker, identified as Christopher Walsh, 20, of Chicago, to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 2:20 a.m., police said.
The woman with Walsh, who was 19 years old and was an acquaintance of the offender's, was taken to Lutheran General with non-life-threatening injuries, Glenview police said.
Lincoln Avenue was closed in both directions from about Austin Avenue to Menard Avenue following the crash, a witness said.
The carjacking and the crash remain under investigation.
