Carjacker Tells Victim: 'Give Me The Keys Or I'll Blow Your Head Off'
(CBS) – A carjacking victim whose vehicle was stolen over the weekend in Logan Square tells her story to CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot.
"I remember him showing me the gun and saying, 'Give me the mother (expletive) keys, or I'll blow your head off," says the victim, who asked that her name not be used.
With tear-filled eyes, this woman recalls what the carjacker told her in a parking lot Saturday evening while showing her a long-barreled firearm.
"He showed it to me, and had his finger on the trigger," she says.
"I never had anything like this happen to me," the woman adds. "It was the scariest thing I ever had to go through."
The woman says at first, she thought the young, rail-thin, disheveled man was collecting shopping carts in front of Strack & Van Til, where she'd been shopping.
"He was on something. He was definitely not right," she says.
He engaged her in conversation, but at times, made no sense when speaking to her, before holding her at gunpoint and then driving away with her car.
"I ran back into the store and I had them call the police. And within minutes the police were there, which was awesome. They've been just remarkable," she says.
"I hope they find him, before he does this again and hurts somebody, because he didn't look like he would have hesitated to use the gun."
Police recovered the car near a downtown bus stop. A Strack & Van Til spokesperson says they are cooperating fully in the investigation.
