Car Slides Into Retention Pond In Roselle
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A car slid into a shallow retention pond in west suburban Roselle Monday morning.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, the car slid into the pond at Irving Park Road and Spring Hill Drive. It is not known how the accident happened, nor what happened to the driver.
The car was left axle-deep in the shallow, muddy pond.
The driver's side rear window was broken, indicating that somebody in the car had tried to escape through it.
Roselle fire crews were on the scene as of 6 a.m., as was a recovery crew with a tow truck. Removing the car from the pond will be a challenge, since it will have to be lifted almost vertically over the steep, muddy bank.
