Car Hits Yellow Line Train, Leaves Scene
SKOKIE, Ill. (STMW) -- Power was cut briefly to the CTA Yellow Line in north suburban Skokie on Tuesday morning after a car struck a train and kept going.
The incident happened about 9:20 a.m. near Niles Center Road in Skokie, according to CTA spokeswoman Wanda Taylor.
Power was then turned off on the express line that runs between Howard Street and the Dempster station in Skokie. Riders were able to get onto the No. 97 Skokie bus and continue their trips, Taylor said.
There were no reports of injuries to anyone on the train, Taylor said. According to dispatch reports, the train sustained minor damage and the car left the scene.
Service was restored by about 9:45 a.m.
