Car Goes Off Road, Ties Up Eisenhower Extension
ELMHURST, Ill. (CBS) -- A car went off the road on a ramp from the inbound Eisenhower extension early Tuesday, causing backups as the morning rush began.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, sometime before 6:30 a.m., the car went off the road on the ramp from the expressway to North Avenue.
The vehicle ended up in the swampy pit alongside the ramp. It had to be pulled out from a mess of mud and weeds.
It was not immediately learned whether the driver was injured, but an ambulance responded to the scene.
Following the accident, the inbound I-290 extension was backed up heading toward North Avenue, causing a traffic headache for commuters from the north and northwest suburbs.
