Car Flips Onto CTA Blue Line Tracks

UPDATED 02/25/11 6:11 a.m.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Parts of the CTA Blue Line were shut down early Friday, after a car flipped off an overpass onto the tracks.

Oak Park police said around 3:15 a.m., crews responded to a report of the vehicle near the Austin stop on the Blue Line. The driver was apparently trying to get on the Eisenhower Expressway at the Austin Boulevard ramp when it flipped over.

Fire department crews rescued the people in the car, who were pinned inside. They were taken to area hospitals, but their conditions were not immediately known.

CTA spokeswoman Kim Myles said the Blue Line was closed between the Forest Park and Pulaski Road stops while crews moved the car. There were also concerns about track damage, reports CBS 2's Kris Habermehl.
