2 Cars Damaged By Falling Concrete On Eisenhower
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two cars were damaged by falling concrete on the Eisenhower Expressway on Monday.
Illinois State Police said they were notified around 1:45 p.m. of a car damaged in the eastbound lanes of the Eisenhower, between Pulaski Road and Independence Boulevard.
Police said two cars had been damaged by concrete that fell form the Independence Boulevard overpass.
The Illinois Department of Transportation was inspecting the bridge, which had visible chunks missing from its concrete facade Monday afternoon.
All inbound lanes were closed for about 10 minutes after the incident. One lane remained shut down for at least 30 minutes after the cars were damaged to sweep up the debris in the expressway.
