Car Crashes, Bursts Into Flames In Brookfield
BROOKFIELD, Ill. (STMW) - Four people were injured early Saturday after the vehicle they were in crashes into a tree and bursts into flames in west suburban Brookfield.
Firefighters responded at 2:32 a.m. to an accident in the parking lot of Ehlert Park at Oak and Shields avenues, Brookfield Fire Chief Patrick Lenzi said.
A vehicle with four occupants, all in their 20s, was traveling south on Oak Avenue when the vehicle crossed the intersection, struck a tree and caught on fire, Lenzi said.
Police safely removed the four occupants - one woman and three men- as the car caught fire, Lenzi said.
Three people with serious injuries were taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. One person with minor injuries was sent to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.
Emergency crews from Riverside, La Grange, La Grange Park, Lyons and McCook assisted with the accident.
