Cameras Show Chicago Coyotes Adapting To City Life
(CBS) -- An Ohio State University wildlife ecologist who's been studying Chicago's coyotes for about 15 years has published some new research that shows how they've adapted so well to life in the city.
WBBM's Mike Krauser reports Dr. Stan Gehrt put cameras on some of the coyotes living in the busier parts of the city, including near downtown.
The video helps to explain how why with an estimated 2,000 of the animals living in the city we don't see more of them hit by cars. National Geographic is funding Gehrt's research and the video is posted on their website.

Gehrt says the video shows what the coyotes eat and he is not seeing them stalk people's pets, at least not in the city. He says they are thriving because they have learned to hide right among us in daylight and roam mostly at night.
