As WBBM Newsradio's Nancy Harty reports, the Cook County State's Attorney's office has charged Dawoud "David" Zoubeidi with reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for shooting at the thief who ran out of his store in Calumet City with leather jackets he had stolen, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Zoubeidi is the owner of The Connection Wear, and says the man showed a gun before taking off with the three jackets in 2010, the Sun-Times reports.
The robber dropped the jackets and hopped into a waiting car after Zoubeidi fired the shots, the Sun-Times reported.
Zoubeidi tells the Sun-Times he thinks he is being prosecuted because he fired the shots across the street from an elementary school. But his attorney, Patrick O'Byrne, tells the newspaper no children were at risk because Zoubeidi was firing in the opposite direction toward a wall.
O'Byrne also said Zoubeidi was justified in firing his .40-caliber handgun, and told the Sun-Times that the "law-abiding citizens" are punished by "the anti-gun climate."
The paper reports Zoubeidi was convicted of a misdemeanor gun charge three years ago, after he accidentally shot himself.
