Call Saved Mom, Daughter From Injury In Des Plaines
DES PLAINES (CBS) -- A large weeping willow tree was brought down by the storm Monday morning in Des Plaines and crashed into a home.
As Newsradio 780's Steve Miller reports, the tree was one of the big storm's casualties in the northern suburb.
It crashed into the neighbor's home, and those young homeowners are just happy to be alive.
The husband, Steve Shamoon, works in Elgin, and called his wife to tell her that the storm was probably headed her way, and to get their 8-month-old daughter out of her second-floor bedroom and away from windows.

Shamoon says he thanks God that his wife listened and they weren't on the second floor. Leaning up against that second story is the huge weeping willow tree that used to stand tall in the yard next door.
As the tree came down, it damaged the roof and some siding near the bedroom of their daughter.
The family is fine and thankful for insurance that will repair their damaged home but will not pay the $2,000 it will take to get the tree cleared away.
