Cab Driver Dies, Woman Wounded In Maywood Shooting
MAYWOOD (CBS) -- A cab driver died and a 68-year-old woman was wounded during a shooting Saturday in west suburban Maywood.
The shooting occurred 12:30 p.m. Saturday at South 19th Avenue and St. Charles Road, according to Maywood spokesperson Larry Shapiro.
A cabdriver was waiting at the curb to pick up a customer when he was shot once in the left side of the head, Shapiro said.
A 68-year-old woman who was waiting for a Pace bus was shot in the back, Shapiro said. The bullet "was lodged against her spinal cord," he said but she was not paralyzed. The woman lived two blocks away from where the shooting occurred.
Both were taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Shapiro said.
Luis Cordoba, 56, of Melrose Park, was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. Sunday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Neither victim was the intended target, Shapiro said.
