Byrd Hit By Pitch In First Rehab Start
CHICAGO (CBS) It didn't take long for Cubs outfielder Marlon Byrd to get hit by a pitch again.
Playing with the Iowa Cubs Monday in his first rehab start since getting hit in the eye by a pitch May 21, Byrd was hit on his side in his second at-bat against the Albuquerque Isotopes.
He was unhurt and took his base, later scoring in the inning. All-in-all, Byrd went 0-for-3 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, a stolen base and two runs while batting leadoff for Iowa.
The Cubs have not set a return date for Byrd, but he told the Chicago Tribune Monday that he hopes to be back with the major league team by Sunday.
