Woman Arrested After Crashing Car Near Huntley, Walking Off

HUNTLEY, Ill. (CBS) -- Kane County Sheriff's Police say young woman has been charged after leaving the scene of an overnight accident between Huntley and Pingree Grove.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, Kane County Sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler says Allyson Holze, 24, had been driving a sport-utility vehicle so fast she cut a telephone utility pole in half when she hit it on Big Timber Road near Route 47 around 1:40 a.m.
When sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, no one was there.

"We weren't sure whether the people in the car walked away (or) got ejected," Gengler said. "We checked the area. We walked it. We used a canine, a thermal imager; we eventually made a call to the police helicopter and tried to use a spotlight find anybody."
The helicopter was used to look over the area, including a nearby cornfield.
Around 6 a.m., Gengler said someone called police to report the driver was at that person's home nearby.
Police confirmed Holze was the driver, and that no one else had been in the car.
She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin and treated for minor injuries.
Gengler says Holze has been charged with DUI, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The intersection was shut down for a time after the crash.
