Bus Knocks Down Light Pole On West Side
UPDATED 05/03/11 12:07 p.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A CTA bus slammed into a light pole on the city's West Side Tuesday morning, sending the light pole crashing down to the street below.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, the bus driver lost control at California Avenue and Jackson Boulevard in the East Garfield Park neighborhood around 6:50 a.m. He hit the light pole, which had a perpendicular bar with traffic lights over the street.
The bus and at least one other car also collided, but it wasn't immediately clear who was at fault, police said.
The bus driver was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in an unspecified condition, while the driver of the car refused medical treatment, police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety said.
