Burglary Suspect Nabbed After North Suburban Shooting
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (STMW) - A man wanted in two burglaries was nabbed, along with two other men, as police responded to a shooting last week in north suburban Waukegan.
It happened about 9:30 p.m. June 8 as police responded to a call of shots fired in the 500 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Waukegan, a release from Waukegan police said.
Officers saw a white Ford Expedition speeding away from the area, with the tires screeching. Officers stopped the vehicle and recovered a loaded 9 mm Ruger handgun, which had a defaced serial number, the release said.
Three people inside the SUV were charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and defacing a handgun's serial number.
The three are Rahquan Duffle, 26, of the 38300 block of Imperial Lane in Beach Park; Donyelle Roberts, 34, of the 1400 block of North Avenue in Waukegan; and Larry Jackson, 22, of the 1700 block of Lorraine in Waukegan.
While investigating the shooting, detectives discovered Jackson was also a suspect in two unresolved burglaries. After talking to Jackson, detectives were able to get confessions to the burglaries, which led them to recover some of the stolen items.
Jackson was additionally charged with two counts of residential burglary.
