Burglars Break Into Near North Side Church For Second Time
CHICAGO (CBS) -- For the second time in a week, burglars broke into a Greek Orthodox Church on the city's Near North Side and stole several items.
This time, the burglars took cash and other items including a crucifix at the Annunciation Cathedral, at 1017 N. LaSalle Blvd. just north of Oak Street.
The Chicago Tribune reports the burglary was discovered by a janitor around 6 a.m. Sunday.
As of Monday morning, there was no word on how much the church had lost.
The church was also burglarized between Sunday evening and Monday morning last week, when a burglar broke in through a stained glass window, the Tribune reported. The burglars used the same route in the latest incident.
The crucifix the burglars stole was a "blessing cross" that wasn't worth much money, the newspaper reported.
There is no word if any suspects have been identified, or if the same people are believed to be responsible for both incidents.
