Bulls Using The Movie 'Major League' As Inspiration
(CBS) In the the 1989 film "Major League", the Cleveland Indians manage to win their division despite the team's owner trying to make the team as bad as possible so she can relocate the franchise.
That's not exactly what is going on with the Bulls this season, but after the organization traded Luol Deng to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Bulls players are starting to see the parallels.
"We understand it's kind of like the movie 'Major League,'" forward Taj Gibson said. "We've got that mentality where we believe in the locker room. We believe in what we think. And we're taking it one game at a time and we're trying to get those wins hopefully to see ... get a good, nice poster at the end of the year."
In "Major League", the Indians put a cardboard cutout of owner Rachel Phelps in the clubhouse and peel off a piece of her clothing after every win. The Bulls haven't gone that far yet, but according to Gibson, teammate Joakim Noah has talked about it.
"We haven't figured that out yet, but that's kind of the way we're going at it," Gibson said. "That's what Joakim started. Joakim said it, and I've just been running with it. Every game is like a test and we're fighting."
