Bulls To Rest Dwyane Wade On Saturday At Mavericks
By Cody Westerlund--
(CBS) The Bulls will rest guard Dwyane Wade against the Mavericks on Saturday, coach Fred Hoiberg said.
Wade won't accompany the team to Dallas when Chicago is set to fly there after Friday night's home contest against Cleveland. With four games on the schedule in five nights for the only time this season, this continues the Bulls' big-picture approach of keeping the 34-year-old Wade fresh and healthy.
It will mark Wade's second missed game of the season, as he also rested during a Nov. 20 win at the Lakers on the latter half of a back-to-back. Wade is averaging 18.8 points.
Additionally, reserve forward Doug McDermott has a meeting set with team doctors Friday night as he continues to recover from a concussion, his second of the year. McDermott has been cleared for non-contact work but not full contact as he continues to experience a few symptoms. If McDermott is cleared by doctors Friday night, he'll then move on to practicing with the team's D-League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, Hoiberg said.
McDermott would need to complete a couple practices before returning to game action, Hoiberg said. Friday will mark McDermott's eighth straight missed game.
