Bulls Roster Almost Complete
With the soon to be announced signing of Kurt Thomas, the Bulls job of rounding out their roster is just about complete. Thomas will sign a 2 year deal and will serve as a backup at both center and power forward. Thomas (38 years old) has been with 6 different teams previous. He originally was drafted by Miami but enjoyed his most success while with the NY Knicks. He has career averages of 9 points and 7 rebounds and is known as a good presence in the locker room.
Thomas will be the initial back up to Joakim Noah at center and will give new coach Tom Thibodeau the option of going small on the court. It also gives the Bulls time for new center Omer Asik to develop at a slower pace as Thomas takes the pressure off of him.
Thomas will also instantly be the oldest player by far on the team and will be relied on by the younger players as someone to go to for any advice. Previously Lindsey Hunter and Brad Miller were the players who filled that role but Hunter is now retired and Miller recently signed a contract to play with the Houston Rockets.
With the signing of Thomas , the Bulls will likely look to sign just one more player and it should come at the guard position. Tracey McGrady will get first crack as he has a workout scheduled for next week.
