Bulls Not Focused On Title, Just Next Opponent
Earlier this week, Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf said that he thought the team could win four NBA championships in the next several years. While that may prove to be true, saying it is easier than doing it.
"It's going to be tough, Boston, the Lakers, guys like that," Bulls guard Kyle Korver said of the team's title chances. "But that's so far down the road. We have to worry about Atlanta, we owe them one. And we just have to keep on building."
The Bulls will play the Hawks on Friday night, just over a week after losing to them 83-80 down in Atlanta. The revenge aspect Korver spoke of is nothing new to the Bulls this season. After missing a free throw that would have sent the December 18 game against the Los Angeles Clippers to overtime, Derrick Rose was out for revenge 23 games later when the two teams squared off again. In the rematch Rose scored 32 points and added 11 assists in 108-88 dismantling of the Clippers.
The Bulls are quickly going from title sleeper to legitimate contender, as both their and Rose's star continue to rise. The team is widely regarded as being a year ahead of their previously anticipated schedule, and if they catch the Celtics, they could have a better shot at making Reinsdorf look like a very smart man.
