Bulls' Derrick Rose Is A Gametime Decision At Heat On Tuesday
(CBS) Bulls point guard Derrick Rose's status remains uncertain for Tuesday's road contest against the Heat as he deals with right hamstring tendonitis, with coach Fred Hoiberg saying he'll be a gametime decision.
Rose has missed the past three games because of the right hamstring issue, muscles that are tied to the right knee that Rose has had two major surgeries on. The Bulls have gone 1-2 in this stretch that Rose has missed while All-Star wing Jimmy Butler has also been out with a left knee strain.
Rose participated in much of Monday's practice, which signaled progress.
"It's basically an injury based on feel," Hoiberg told the Tribune. "If he feels he can explode off it, then he'll play. If not, if he still has trouble exploding off the leg, we'll take a cautious approach and sit him.
"It's diagnosed as a tendonitis injury. So a lot of it is how he explodes off it. It's obviously on the same knee that he has had repaired a couple times. We feel he'll continue to make progress. Once we do get him back, hopefully we'll have him back for the rest of the year."
As for Butler, the plan is for him to participate in Friday's practice. If he gets through that feeling good, he could play in the Bulls' home game against the Rockets on Saturday, Hoiberg indicated, though next week would be more likely for his comeback. Butler's been out since suffering the injury on Feb. 5.
