Bulls' Bench Leads Team Past Mavs
In Thursday night's win over the Dallas Mavericks, Derrick Rose lead the way with 26 points. But it was the Chicago Bulls' bench players, scoring 30 points, that made the difference in the game.
"To me, it makes a good team, because you have other guys stepping up," Bulls' guard Ronnie Brewer said of the bench's performance.
Brewer and guard C.J. Watson both chipped in eight points each, while Kyle Korver added nine and Omer Asik scored five, for a combined 30 points coming off of the bench. If you take Rose out of the equation, the other four starters were outscored by the four players coming off the bench, 30-26.
That versatility in head coach Tom Thibodeau's lineup will start to pay off once the injured Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah return.
"I mean everybody knows what Carlos Boozer can do, what Joakim Noah provides for this team," Brewer said. "But, when you have guys who come off the bench and step up, night it and night out, it shows that we have a lot of depth and we have a lot of other guys who can come in and make plays for us every night."
