Bullets Found On School Bus
TINLEY PARK, Ill. (STMW) -- Police and school officials are investigating how two bullets ended up in a school bus outside a southwest suburban school earlier this week.
One bullet was found on the bus Tuesday afternoon by a second-grader and fifth-grader, Tinley Park Community Consolidated School District 146 Supt. Marion Hoyda said. The children turned them over to the bus driver, she said.
"They are smart students, very smart," Hoyda said.
A second bullet was found later by the bus company.
That bus was not used to take children home Tuesday from Fulton School, 6601 W. 171st St., Hoyda said.
The bus also is used for students at Central Middle School, 18146 Oak Park Ave., Hoyda said.
School officials have been talking with students and "very conscientious" parents about the incident, Hoyda said.
"We are very close to closure on this," she said.
Parents of students at both schools were alerted via e-mail Wednesday, she said.
