Building Owner Offers Any Town A Free Christmas Tree
TINLEY PARK (WBBM) -- Wanted: A good home for tree that has been growing outside a Tinley Park apartment building near 175th and Ridgeland for at least 40 years.
A south suburban man is offering his roughly 40-foot tall evergreen free to any community looking for a Christmas tree to put in its holiday display.

Apartment building owner Tony Abete says the tree is growing too close to the structure so he wants to take it down.
"It's a beautiful evergreen tree. ... It's in wonderful shape," said Abete.
He offered it to Tinley Park, but the village uses an artificial tree in its display.
Abete says he'll consider offers from businesses or private citizens, just as long as the tree makes kids smile.
Any town or city interested should email tinleyapt@aol.com.
Abete says he'll try again next year if he can't find someone to take the tree.
