Buffone: If NFL Pushes For 18 Games, They Need To Expand Rosters
The NFL owners voted to change several rules before the start of net season, and that has taken the headlines away from the labor negotiations, at least for a little while. But the proposed 18-game schedule is still the biggest issue
"What they should be talking about is the fact that if you do go 18 games, then you must increase your roster, there's no question about that," former Bear Doug Buffone said on the Danny Mac Show. "Exhibition season, I hate exhibition season, but I can't compare it to when I played because when we had exhibition season we played almost three quarters of the game, every game. These guys don't, they don't play till that third game and they may play three quarters and that's it.

"So if they're going to go to 18 games, then fine, go to 18 games, pay [the players] more money for going the 18 games and put more players on the roster and call it a day. As a fan...we all look at the exhibition games, and their yawners...So I think they go to two exhibition games, then to go 18 [games], but pay them and put more ball players on the team."
