Brouwer: Stanley Cup Parade Was 'Surreal'
CHICAGO (WSCR) A full year has past since the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. In the days and weeks that followed Patrick Kane's Game 6 overtime goal, Chicago went all out to celebrate its first sports championship since 2005.
From Kane's goal to Marian Hossa's game-winner against the Nashville Predators, every Blackhawks fan has their favorite memories of the 2010 season.
"There was a lot of things that whole season that went into winning the Stanley Cup," Blackhawks forward Troy Brouwer said on the Danny Mac Show. "You know, you could...throw in the 5-0, come-from-behind victory against Calgary early on in the season. So, there were a lot of things that whole season that point to the end result and what we wanted to accomplish.
"And. you know, we hope that Chicago had a great year that year, you know, fans-wise, watching us and enjoying us. And like I said, we we're so proud and so glad to be able to bring that cup back to Chicago.

"And then there was the parade, which was just surreal. You know, they were estimating about half a million people, and I think we got over two million. You know, to be on the bus, people always ask me what was one of the best memories and best experiences of the whole Cup experience, and I have to say the parade, just becuase you get two million people out there, showing their support for 25, 30 guys and it's just amazing what winning can do to a city, and especially a city like Chicago."
