Brouwer: Current Blackhawks Are 'Frustrated'

(WSCR) It's never easy to see a championship-winning team broken up and apparently there is disappointment building among Blackhawks players as more and more members of the 2009-10 Stanley Cup-winning team leave Chicago.

With Troy Brouwer and Brian Campbell getting traded last week, only eight members of the 2010 Stanley Cup winning Blackhawks team remain.

"I kind of thought they would make more of an effort to try and keep the team together but obviously that's not the case," Brouwer told the The Danny Mac Show on 670 The Score Tuesday. "And I've talked to a couple of guys on the Blackhawks currently that are a little frustrated with how everything is going. But that's the direction that the team is going in right now and (General Manager Stan Bowman) is going to do what is best for his hockey club."

Brouwer also voiced some frustrations with how he was juggled in the lineup by head coach Joel Quenneville this past season.

"This year I got bounced up and down the lineup quite a bit," he said. "For me, it was frustrating because I never played more than two games usually on the same line. You never really get a chance to relax and just play and get to know those guys because you are always trying to find new ways to play with new players that you are on (the same line with) everyday. So I think I was maybe a little shortchanged."

Still, the winger acknowledged that his production late in the season wasn't good enough.

"At the end of the season, what I can say? I didn't score for the last 22 games of the regular season and in the playoffs. So even though I felt like I was playing well, you aren't going to put a guy who isn't playing on the top two lines," he said.

Brouwer also revealed that he under went a minor knee scope during the off-season last summer and admitted he regretted having the procedure done.
