Brothers-In-Law Dead In Munster Murder-Suicide
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two brother-in-laws who were involved in a business venture together were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in northwest Indiana on Sunday night.
About 6:10 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired compliant in the 8600 block of Linden Avenue, and found two unresponsive men with gunshot wounds, according to Munster police.
Theodore Surman of Munster was found lying in a snow bank on Linden with a gunshot wound to the chest, a statement from police said. A semi-automatic pistol was found next to him.
The second man, Mario Martinez of Portage, Ind., was lying in the street next to his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head, according to police.
Both were taken to Community Hospital in Munster, where they were later pronounced dead, police said.
Preliminary information indicates Surman and Martinez were brothers-in-law who were involved in a business venture together. The two were leaving a home prior to the shooting, police said.
The shooting is thought to be a murder suicide, according to police.
