Broken Utility Pole Shuts Down Busy Intersection On Lyons-Stickney Border
LYONS, Ill. (CBS) -- The busy intersection of Harlem Avenue and Pershing Road on the boundary between Lyons and Stickney was shut down Wednesday morning, after a utility pole snapped.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, the wooden utility pole snapped about three quarters of the way down, and was left hanging precariously over the roadway.
ComEd had to be called to the scene to fix the pole and restring the electrical wires attached to it.
As of the 6 a.m. hour, the intersection was closed, and traffic was being rerouted through nearby parking lots and alleys.
