Brizard: No More Barring Teachers Over Personality Test Scores
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A personality test given to prospective Chicago Public School teachers is no longer a do-or-die proposition.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bernie Tafoya reports, until just Thursday night, anyone who performed poorly on the TeacherFit personality test was told he or she could not be hired as a teacher in city schools.

But when principals and others began complaining that stellar teaching candidates were being aced out by the test, new schools chief executive officer Jean-Claude Brizard acted.
He told principals Thursday night in an e-mail that they have the power to decide who should be hired, not the TeacherFit test.
"Fundamentally, you should be advising and informing the work of the principal, not putting barriers in place," Brizard said.
Brizard's comments came during a taping of Newsradio 780's "At Issue" program, which you can hear on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
