The nine-year veteran out of Arizona has registered 100 tackles, two forced fumbles and an interceptions this season as he and fellow Pro Bowl teammate Brian Urlacher anchor the Bears' defense.
Briggs said that coming out of college, he knew he could play, but the thought of making seven-straight Pro Bowls was a distant dream when the Bears drafted him in the third round (68th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.
"I didn't know that I was going to be a Pro Bowler or that I'd get to seven-straight," he said. "I knew I could play and I knew I could play at an elite level. I was excited for the opportunity to show that I do belong here and that I'm supposed to be here. Pro Bowls, obviously they're voted on by the fans, players and coaches, and it just says that you're one of the guys in the NFL that plays at an elite level."
Along with Briggs and Urlacher, cornerback Charles Tillman, running back Matt Forte and special teams player Corey Graham all received Pro Bowl selections.
"I'm excited for all those guys (to get) some positives out of what's been going on right now," Briggs said. "Unfortunately, we didn't have the season that we wanted, but the Bears are coming away with five Pro Bowlers."
