Bridgeport Robbery Suspect Identified As Ex-Con
CHICAGO (CBS) -- New details are emerging about a robbery and standoff in the Bridgeport neighborhood this week, in which police shot and killed one suspect, but the other remains on the loose.
The suspect shot dead by police in the early Wednesday morning incident has been identified as Jeff Wilson, 30.
Wilson was on parole after serving time for an armed robbery back in 2005.
Officers from the Prairie District, which is the next district east from where the incident happened, saw the men enter the store and thought something wasn't right, police said.
Police say as the officers approached them near the front door, one man pulled out a gun and started shooting.
Police fired and killed Wilson, and sent out a SWAT team to determine whether the second suspect was still in the store, and perhaps had barricaded himself inside.
But the second robber was not in the store. It turned out the other suspect ran out the back door. He has not been found.
The J.J. Peppers clerk who was working during the robbery was uninjured.
