Brey: Big East Could Have Double Digits In March Madness
The greatest two days in sports are quickly approaching. And over the course of the first two days of the NCAA men's basketball tournament, fans could be seeing a lot of the Big East.
"We are in position to have the most bids ever by a league," Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "Eight is our record, we'll certainly break that. I think, you know, right now today we have 11 teams that are very much in the discussion. It's going to be interesting to see how that all plays out. And in New York City and the [Big East] Tournament. But I just truly feel we're going to have double digits in the NCAA Tournament. And we've earned that."

Before the season started, many thought that the Big Ten would be the dominant conference. But disappointing seasons from Illinois and Michigan State have hurt the conference.
"It's a cycle," Brey said, "the Big Ten will be the best league and then we will rotate up...The up cycle for us this year was kind of a perfect storm. And it really started in November and December. Because you look at, really, our league as a whole, we really took care of our business in our non-league [schedule]. We all had great wins, and that's why it's driven this league to the one [spot] in the RPI, right now, as a league."
