Forte Suffers Knee Injury

By Adam Hoge-

CHICAGO (CBS) Bears running back Matt Forte suffered a right knee injury in the first quarter of Sunday's 10-3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and his season could be in doubt.

Head coach Lovie Smith said Forte has an MCL sprain and will miss 2-6 weeks. There are only four weeks left in the regular season.

"Not a good feeling when you see your starting tailback go down with a knee injury," Smith said. "But it's part of the game. We'll just keep our fingers crossed and hopefully it's not that serious."

Forte took a direct shot to the knee by a Chiefs tackler and immediately grabbed his right knee. Trainers performed an ACL test on the field before the running back walked to the sideline on his own power. They performed more tests on the sideline and Forte was immediately ruled out.

Tight end Matt Spaeth took the blame for missing his block on the play and said it was the first time they had run that specific play.

Safety Major Wright also left Sunday's game with a shoulder injury and did not return. Smith hinted that his injury could be serious too.

"Of course whenever you can't finish the game there's concern, but that's about all we know now," he said.

Craig Steltz replaced Wright instead of Brandon Meriweather.
