Dempster Denies Trade To Braves
(WSCR) Despite multiple outlets reporting the Cubs traded Ryan Dempster to the Braves, the pitcher denied the trade through Twitter and is still in Pittsburgh for Monday night's game against the Pirates.
Dempster, 35, is 5-4 with a 2.11 ERA in 15 starts this season. He also sports a 1.05 WHIP and has 77 strikeouts in 98 innings pitched this season.
Subsequent reports indicate right-handed pitcher Randall Delgado, who was ranked the third-best prospect in the Braves system for 2011, was included in the proposed deal.
Dempster is currently in the final year of a four-year, $52 million contract.
