"It will be a great surprise and very worthwhile to me personally," said Julie Benson, president of the Chicago Genealogical Society.
Benson wants to find out more about her own father, who came to Chicago in 1937 from Sweden.
"I'll have a street address so I can go see if the house is still there – hopefully, it is – a lot of other information," Benson said. "I assume he may have been living with relatives at the time."
Names, addresses, education and employment will be listed to provide pieces of a family jigsaw.
The 1940 Census also included some new questions about education and income.
Specific census information is not released until 72 years after the Census is taken.
