Brake Malfunction Delays Red Line Train In River North
CHICAGO (STMW) - A CTA train was briefly delayed in the River North neighborhood Wednesday night after a brake malfunctioned and began smoking.
A northbound Red Line train car had a brake problem that created "smoke or the smell of smoke" about 6:05 p.m. at the Chicago station near State Street, CTA spokeswoman Wanda Taylor said.
The operator disengaged the brake on the car in question and continued to the Howard station, where the train will be taken out of service, Taylor said.
The train was delayed about 10 minutes while the operator disengaged the brakes on that car, Taylor said. Nobody was injured.
