Break-In At Saint Laurent Paris Store On Gold Coast
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Thieves busted out windows at a luxury retail store on the Gold Coast early Friday, and made off with hundreds of thousands of dollars in merchandise.
CBS 2's Chelsea Irving reports burglars used baseball bats to break the front window at the Saint Laurent Paris store at 11 E. Walton St. shortly before 3 a.m.
Police said the burglars made off with hundreds of thousands of merchandise, mostly purses and clothing -- including a one-of-a-kind purse.
Susanne Buchberger was walking by the store shortly after the thieves broke in.
"I was on my way to the gym, and the glass was shattered. … Then I realized I heard people around the corner, and things are probably obviously gone, and I called 911," she said. "By the time I came back from the gym, the cops were here, and then the managers from the store."
No one was in custody early Friday, but police were planning to review surveillance video in hopes of identifying the burglars.
